Next to periodical polls NCCM can also be triggered through syslog signals. This guide explains the different possibilities regarding syslog setups. Such as why we choose to wait for a certain period of time to retrieve a node's configuration after receiving a syslog message. It also explains how to configure the patterns to look for in these syslog mess…

NCCM Overview

NCCM is a Network Management term that refers to configuration backups and stands for “Network Configuration and Change Management”. NetYCE has NCCM built-in and is part of all jobs executed on devices. A configuration snapshot is taken from the device when the job logs in on the device, and again when a configuration change is made.

NCCM Syslog

In order to detect a config change NetYCE deploys a syslog server that listens to network events. Since each node, but certainly the network as a whole, can issue large amounts of syslog messages, these events need to be filtered. Only the events indicating a configuration change was made is of interest to the NCCM.
